Haiti . . .
"It is the children of light . . .who because of the love in their hearts . . .are in Haiti right now . . . working to bring hope to a devastated people . . . "
This quote was taken from Fr. David Crippen's Easter sermon which seemed quite fitting as Haiti is now in a state of rebirth and renewal. The Carpenter's fund has been active in Haiti for many years. The photos here show the remains of two projects the Fund has worked on in recent years. The photo on the left is a field hospital set up on the grounds of the Nursing School near Hopital Ste. Croix. This temporary unit was brought to Leogane by World Vision International until permanent repairs can be made to Hopital Ste. Croix.
The The 3-story section of HSC is structurally sound and can be saved. However the single story section of the hospital, guest house, missionary house and Children's Nutrition Program of Haiti apartment were damaged beyond repair.

This photo is of the church at Petit Harpon. The Carpenter's Fund collaborated with Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and provided the funds to build a school and housing in the same general area a few years ago. The church here is very dear to our hearts because this is where the members lived while building the school. We are expecting an application for funds from the demolished church which must be voted on by the board members. The Carpenter's Fund would like to begin construction as soon as possible.
Haiti will continue to need us and we will partner with the Children's Nutrition Program of Haiti to ensure the safety and spiritual well-being of generations of Haitians to come.
The Fall newsletter showed the hospital's electrical system repaired by the Carpenter's Fund prior to January's quake. The Carpenter's Fund has been helping the Children's Nutrition Program of Haiti rebuild Hopital Ste. Croix and the guest house in Leogane, Haiti. Jim Hudson, John Parker and Dick Studder traveled to the area four times the summer of 2009 to help with the rebuilding efforts. The Carpenter's Fund provided funds to replace the electrical systems, plumbing, as well as installing a new generator with a fuel tank.
These donations have helped immensely and the people are thriving thanks to the hard work of Albert Point de Jour and the donations of The Carpenter's Fund.
Haiti holds a special place in the heart of The Carpenter's Fund. If you have ever wondered what your donations benefit, here is the perfect example of our mission statement. We are providing a safe environment to those who cannot provide it for themselves.
